Simple, straightforward banking with our Classic Essentials Account - it's a useful, 'can do' current account that makes your everyday money easy to manage and control, without any of the fancy extras.
Features and benefits
What’s included
- You get all the useful things you'd expect of a current account, but without arranged overdrafts, loans or cheque books.
- You can pay in cheques and cash in branch at our counters, Immediate Deposit Machines, cash machines and pay in boxes.
- There's no charge for everyday transactions as long as you're in credit - and it's easy to set up, change or cancel your standing orders and most Direct Debits online, over the phone or in branch.
- You'll also get a Visa debit card to use in shops, online, over the phone and at cash machines. And you can Save the Pennies every time you use your debit card, helping you save automatically.
- You can also pay in at any Post Office branch counter, in thousands of different places, all across the UK. (Paying in cash or cheques at the Post Office is not automatic and funds will take a day longer to reach your account than the equivalent transaction at a TSB branch.)

Your TSB Visa Debit Card is an amazing piece of plastic. Accepted in millions of places and cash machines worldwide, it's incredibly convenient. It's just as safe to use abroad as at home, so it's a simple alternative to carrying cash.
More about the Visa Debit Card
Every time you use your TSB Visa debit card we’ll round up the amount you spent to the nearest pound and transfer the difference from your current account into an eligible TSB savings account.
A joint account is simply a bank account in the name of two or more people. You can either convert your existing bank account into a joint account by adding someone else to it, or open a new account in two people's names.

- Added Value Accounts can only have up to two insured account holders on the account. Other parties such as appointed representatives can be added, but they will not benefit from the insurances.
- To enable the Added Value Account to operate, TSB share limited account details with the insurers. This means we only share one address per account with the insurers.
Benefits
- Convenient way to share outgoings like shopping, bills, mortgage or rent payments
- You'll both get your own Visa debit card for payments and cash
- You can still keep your own current account and open an additional TSB joint account, and move money between the two accounts easily
Important things to remember
Along with the benefits of opening a joint account, there are also extra responsibilities. Here are a few things to consider:
- Each person can make withdrawals, use cash machines or apply for an overdraft without needing the other's approval
Apply for a joint account
You can open a joint account or add someone to your existing account at your nearest branch. You'll both need to go into a branch so that you can provide identification in person.
