If you need help with your day-to-day banking, you can nominate someone you trust to access your account(s) to do things like pay bills or withdraw money for you. This is called third party access.
What is third party access?
Third party access (or a third party mandate) is where someone you trust helps to manage your money. It may be useful for you if:
- You’re unable to leave your home
- You find it difficult to bank online
- You have a long stay in hospital
- You’re going abroad for a while
You can choose to cancel third party access at any time.
Power of attorney
Third party access isn’t suitable for customers who need help managing their financial affairs due to their mental capacity. In these circumstances, a power of attorney would be better suited.

The person you choose as your third party can do most day-to-day transactions on your behalf, either in a branch or over the phone. There are a few things they can’t do, but we’ll cover that in the third-party access form.
No, they don't have to bank with us. If they’re not a TSB customer, they’ll need to complete an initial identification process before we can set up third party access.
